Review of A World Away by 2002
If the word ‘music’ were a verb, we could have said: “A family that musics together stays together!” This is true in the case of the band ‘2002’–a family that has grown and bonded together in music, and deservingly have produced a wonderful compilation of songs in this album.
Though I have not heard their previous albums, a look at just the themes and the names themselves give a hint of what they have done, and I long to hear some of their albums to know how wonderfully they have done them. Why, well, because their latest album is worthy of all your time.
It is a sonic love story–a complete movie or an absorbing tale that will take you to worlds unknown and make your day as a listener. Every song, every instrument weaves an emotional story complementary to the journey that it is taking you on.
Artist Name: 2002
Total Time: 46:00
There are ten songs on the album out of which six are vocals and four are instrumental. As mentioned earlier that the album sounds like a love story, the poetry in the vocal songs is amazing. The choir-like layers of the vocals are angelic and hauntingly beautiful.
The instrumentals, ‘Finding You,’ ‘Memory of Tomorrow,’ ‘We Are Always,’ and ‘The Space Between’ are also masterpieces of different moods. The musical prowess of the family is amply supported by the guest artists James Song on Violin and Jim Higgins on Cello. You will notice the magic of violin in ‘Finding You’ and the somber and heart-rending play of cello and harp in ‘Memory of Tomorrow.’
In the vocal section, my favorite song of the album is ‘Butterfly.’ It has a strange sense of bliss that one feels while giving joy to others.
Evocative and sensory, and amply powerful to transport to you other worlds, this album is full of beautiful sounds that you would like to listen on repeat mode, and also if you would like to relax a bit after a stressful day.
I wish the ‘2002’ group very best with their mesmerizing songs and look forward to more such brilliant music from them!
