Review of Quiet Spaces: Flute Meditations for Mindfulness and Relaxation by Ann Licater
The flute is my favorite instrument–well, I never like to pick favorites but flute is something very close to my heart. I feel drawn to it and also its sounds, which may vary depending upon the material, style and genre and also the style that it is played in. There is something essentially unique to the appeal its music has, and my heart seems to respond to it whenever I hear it.
I have had the privilege of listening to Ann’s music for some time and it gives me a sense of proud that she never fails to surprise you with her new creations. This album is a bundle of raw solo-flute bliss–you can just forget yourself for some time when you start listening to the album.
Album Name: Quiet Spaces: Flute Meditations for Mindfulness and Relaxation
Artist Name: Ann Licater
Total Time: 46:26
Being a solo-flute album, the tracks do not particular rhythm but that’s where the flute takes the listener on an ethereal journey. Every song has a deep-reaching sound that transports you to a different land, almost a different plane of existence, where you find yourself alone with yourself–indeed, a time for quiet conversation and enjoying the company of the very essence of yours. In the clamor-filled world of today’s, it is very hard to find something so powerful but so easily available that you help you disconnect from the outer world and lead you inside. I must congratulate Ann on an impactful creation!
There are 15 tracks in the album with individual tastes: ‘Quiet Spaces: Flute Meditations for Mindfulness and Relaxation’ is very soothing and draws the very best of some of the lone moments. ‘Aspen Awakening’ is a like a fluttering sparrow as the artist introduces ‘vibrato’ element of the music. ‘Canyon Solace’ is a stunning piece with the echo effect and the stillness that follows it as if the artist is waiting to see how nature responds to the music.
This is Ann’s fifth album, and her virtuosity is visible–she is an expert when it comes to making the flute talk in a sense that she can draw all types of emotions through it, and she has done it so perfectly in ‘Quiet Spaces: Flute Meditations for Mindfulness and Relaxation.’
I wish her all the luck with this music and wish that she continues to share her gift with the world, enabling the listeners to have some ‘me time’, and rejuvenating their minds and souls.
