Richard K Randlett, the composer, performer, and producer of this album has accomplished a fascinating feat in using music as a vehicle to revisit his emotional past.

Rick Randlett is a versatile artist wearing several hats to his musical personality. The first track successfully lays the foundation for the mansion we will build through the rest of the tracks.

“Distant Worlds“, the second opus is a scintillating composition to promote a nostalgic journey. The overlay of carefully chosen melodies set the tone for an involved journey inside of us. The journey feels ethereal and far removed from the world around us. At times, the treatment is rigid highlighting some prominent phases in the journey we made in the past.

3. In The Aftermath (3:30)

The smallest track in the album, “In The Aftermath” is a perfect companion in anyone’s nostalgic travel. The treatment of the theme gets more intense as the track progresses and lets the listener recapitulate some of the powerful memories of their past in an inimitable fashion.

4. A Time Of Solitude (4:42)

Memories are best lived with when we are left to ourselves. We need some undisturbed space for ourselves when we wish to make an inward journey with our past memories. Close your eyes and commit yourself wholly to the track and you are sure to discover some glorious moments of your past as I did.

5. Twilight Falls (3:49)

The fifth track titled ‘Twilight Falls’ is one of the representative members of this album in surfacing the theme of revisiting past memories in a profound way. Day mildly closing into the night is effectively handled by the author by deploying mild notes throughout the opus. Listen to it when the day closes and you will be drifted into restful moments to ruminate on your past.

6. Daybreak (4:25)

The spell of darkness is now getting over and the listener is awakened to glorious moments right from the moment the track opens with brisk notes. Personally, I found this track one of the most wonderful compositions in this album in kindling our spirits. “Lights On A Distant Shore” is an exceptional deployment of soothing notes. The listener gets to feel his distant past in proximity aided by the soft melodies. The closing of the track marks a dramatic shift in moods bringing some kind of assurance that glorious days are ahead of our journey paths.

8. A Perfect Summer Day (4:44)

While extreme summer can be scorching, “A Perfect Summer Day” can bring some solace and comfort especially when it follows the winter’s biting cold. The notes are brisker in this track when compared to the earlier ones carrying the comforting warmth of summer. ‘A Perfect Summer Day’ gives the ideal setting for reinventing nostalgic memories.

9. Mysteries (4:18)

Life is always a mystery in being unpredictable. Maybe if we are given the power to foresee the future, the charm of life is sure to be lost. “Mysteries” is a meticulously composed track that bears testimony to the artist’s skills in handling the theme in the perfect way. As the name suggests, mysterious twists and turns are underway in the track as you move forward immersing in the melodies and chimes juggling together.

10. Hope Eternal (4:37)

Hope is the sap that lets life keep going amidst challenges and difficulties. A unique member of the album, “Hope Eternal” is a mesmerizing track that helps reflect on those moments that will bring new promises in life. As the track progresses, our hopes widen with a tone of assurance emerging from the majestic tunes.

11. First Snow (4:02)

True to its name, the musician has composed this track by fusing soft melodies suggesting the mild snowfall. “First Snow” is a comforting and motivating opus leading you softly but firmly to your destination. Comforted by some kind of reassurance emerging from the notes, you start feeling life is worth living despite the troubles we have to endure on the way.

12. One Last Look (5:16)

Though we have lived through times, the past is not fully gone. We still carry the maturity infused into our being by life’s experiences. Our hearts are saturated with memories of the bygone days that we enjoyed as well as reviled. Nevertheless, taking “One Last Look” at our past memories after reliving them for some time feels elevating. This is the point when we say goodbye bidding farewell to memories. The last track comes as the crown jewel of the album giving a sense of fulfillment to the listener saying that the present is deep-rooted in the past and it is never lost from our memories. So, we have a chance to get back to those memories whenever we feel a longing to relive the past.

Personally, I deem “Farewell To Memories” as one of my all-time favorites since the album awakened me to a newer perspective of my own past. Some memories of our younger days linger in the depths of our hearts for the rest of our lives. Revisiting the treasure of our past memories always feels good and elevating. The tracks of the album excel one another in infusing a rare kind of craving to reinvent our past lives.
